FAQs
What is Gentlelase?
Gentlelase laser hair reduction is a medically developed and researched laser system for the reduction of unwanted body hair. It remains the world’s most effective laser technology for hair reduction.
How does it work?
The Gentlelase light travels through the skin to the base of the hair follicle where it is absorbed by the pigment surrounding the hair forming cells. The laser energy heats the follicle and damages the cells that produce hair.
Is the process painful?
The Gentlelase process uses cryogen to cool the skin making it far more comfortable than many other lasers in the market. The sensation has been described as being similar to a small rubber band being lightly flicked against your skin.
How long does the treatment take?
Most areas can be treated in 5 to 60 minutes – depending on the surface area and hair density being treated.
Why do I need a Screening?
We conduct a screening with every client before the treatment:
- to identify the area to be treated and advise you how to prepare the area before treatment
- to assess if the Gentlelase treatment is appropriate for you
- to fully explain the process and what to expect
- to perform a patch test to identify the appropriate energy level for you and to advise of the cost of your treatment program
How many treatments will it take?
This depends on the area being treated and can be influenced by age, hair colour, and hormones. However, studies have shown an average hair loss of approximately 80% after 6 treatments. After a treatment, hair growth will be reduced for several weeks. Then some of the treated area is likely to start to regrow again. Re-treatments are carried out when the hair growth starts again.
Will the hair return?
Hair that is treated effectively during your treatment program will not return. It is possible for some individuals to develop some new hair in the treated area after treatment has completed due to hormonal changes.
